StupidBoard

Many moons ago, I started something with my students and I had no idea it would nearly take on a life of its own. Somehow, what was meant to be a joke turned into a classroom staple, a badge of honor, even as students would just make a trip into my room to see who made it (or drag their friends in to brag) on the board. It sort of became a trademark for my classroom. Who knew it would become a popular feature on my whiteboard!?!

It all started with one of those moments. You know, the kind when you say something and then immediately realize that what you said and what you meant may not have been the same thing? I like to call those “brain farts” and we all have had those moments, haven’t we? The very first one caused the entire class to laugh and the student who said it immediately knew she didn’t mean it, but she laughed right along with them.

Anyway, over the years I kept nearly all of the quotes that ended up on the board and told “my kids” that some day when I retired I would write a book about it. Well, I am not sure I have it in me to write a book, but I have begun to highlight them in a different way that I think will be just as effective.

If you would like to follow along, I have begun posting a weekly Saturday feature on an Instagram account dedicated just for this purpose – @stupidboard  I would appreciate a follow if you are so inclined and maybe a recommendation to anyone else you may think would be interested…I venture a guess you find a few things that will put a smile on your face, as well a garner a little chuckle or two!

4.11.18 Update: There is now a Facebook page dedicated to the Stupidboard as well. If you search Stupidboard, you should find it. Or, you can follow this link. Find it, like it,  and share it!

Also, if you search #stupidboard or @stupidboard on Google, you will find the posts as well. You can find Stupidboard nearly everywhere now!
